4 Drink Recipes That Will Help Keep You Cool This Summer
Summer, especially in North Carolina, can be brutally hot. Whether you are having a BBQ or spending a day next to the pool, you need something to keep you cool when the weather outside is blistering hot. Here are a few drink recipes you can make to beat the heat.
Orange Iced Coffee - To make iced coffee all you have to do is brew coffee the way you do at home. The one exception is that you double the amount of coffee with the same amount of water. By doubling the amount of coffee it will not taste watered down when you add ice. When the coffee is done brewing, pour it into a pitcher with ice cubes and orange slices. place it in the refrigerator for a couple of hours before you serve to let the flavor of the oranges sink into the iced coffee. A best practice is to use a African based coffee as your iced coffee. African based coffees have hints of citrus and floral flavors that make an exceptional iced coffee.
Strawberry Limeade - In this recipe you will start out by making a simple syrup. Mix 1 cup of sugar with one cup of water and let it cook over low heat until the sugar is completely dissolved. After this you will want to let it cool. Combine the simple syrup with one cup of lime juice, 2 cups of water, frozen chopped strawberries, and ice. This drink will certainly help you beat the heat.
Peach Ginger Iced Tea - Start by mashing six canned peach halves with 1 1/2 cups of the juice, 1/3 cup of sugar, and 1 tablespoon of grated ginger. Place the mixture in a pitcher. Add ice and six cups of cold English Breakfast Tea.
Iced Chai - Boil six black tea bags in 4 cups of water. Add in a 1 inch piece of ginger and 2 teaspoons of Chai spice blend. Allow to cool and remove the tea bags and the ginger. Add in 1/4 cup of honey. Serve over ice with sweetened condensed milk.
