Healthy Snacks You Can Take With You To The Office

When work is piling up on your desk and you have meetings to attend or clients waiting it can be very hard to eat healthy during the work day.  Most people reach for whatever is within arms reach to snack on when the day gets busy.  These snacks may not be the healthiest options.  Studies prove that how you eat during the day can affect you productivity.  The next time that you need a snack to power you through the rest of your workday, try some of these healthier options.  

 

Whole Wheat Crackers and Peanut Butter - Instead of heading to the office vending machine to grab peanut butter crackers, just make your own.  Try eating 10 whole wheat crackers with one tablespoon of peanut butter. This snack option only contains 193 calories and packs 2 grams of fiber.  

 

Fruit - Any kind of fruit can provide you with the nutrients to get you through your work day.  Try eating a different kind of fruit everyday so as not to get bored with one type of fruit only.  The average serving of fruit is about 70 calories.  You can pair it with a glass of nonfat milk to add about 90 calories.  This combination will give you a protein and fiber boost that will help you maintain your productivity.  

 

Instant Oatmeal -  Instant oatmeal can be a great snack whether it is the morning or afternoon. Plain oatmeal comes in at just 110 calories and can help you control your calorie and sugar intake depending on what you add to it.  Add fruit to your oatmeal to incorporate protein and fiber into your diet.  Add cinnamon or nutmeg for a zest of flavor.  

 

Veggies and Ranch Dressing - Packing a container of veggies like carrots, celery, broccoli, or grape tomatoes can help fill you up because of their high water and fiber content.  If you can't eat your veggies raw, you can add low-fat ranch dressing for only 80 calories.  You can also include hummus for an added 70 calories or salsa for just 10 calories.
